Hello, welcome to our blog :) The first entry, which we want to welcome you, will concern Barcelona, more accurately Barcelona seen through the eyes of a skater and the first visit to this legendary roller-city.
Barcelona is definitely one of the most-visited cities in the world and 5th in Europe. This city can make any tourist fall in love with its combination of the sea and the mountains, the cousine, the music and architecture. It’s truly captivating.
All the recommendations that I’ve been getting since September 2017 made me go and verify all these stories. With my rollerblading friend, we planned the trip for October, bought tickets, booked the hotel, and so my dream was to come true any moment :)
Barcelona is considered to be the European capital of rollerbladers, skateboarders and cyclists.
As usual, before such a trip, a very high level of excitement gets to you, October 11, 2017, was our day. Backpack packed, phone charged. We're fin the air... The flight to Barcelona lasts about 3 hours. A sky with no clouds and sunlit land raises the level of excitement... We take a taxi, check into the hotel, a quick change of clothes, putting on skates and we're off!!! First - to the beach and promenade. We accelerate. We cross streets, everything goes very smoothly. I notice that at each crosswalk there are delicate descents and ramps that make skating very easy. I can’t help but smile more and more and after 5 minutes we reach the beach. The sun shines overhead, in front of us we see palm trees and the famous Barcelona promenade. A beach filled with people and a gentle seaside breeze.
My friend already visited Barcelona several times and prepared a couple must-sees: Hotel W, La Rambla, MACBA, Plaza Catalunya, Arc de Triomphe. Wow!!! Skaters, skateboarders and cyclists are around every corner. We take pics and go on. The area seems to change a bit and uphill we reach the Sagrada Familia cathedral :) Just in time for some rest and dinner. We sit down at a small restaurant with a view of the cathedral. We order delicacies and let me tell you it’s a whole range of new flavors :) Further plan to return back to the sea, it's all off the hill, we go perfectly marked bike paths, busy city rushes, and we are trying to adapt to this rhythm. The speed of the bridges is astonishing, the movement of the scooters just motivates me. New place, new routes, I quickly assess the situation and adapt. We're going to visit the Skatepark De la Mar Bella, which, as it turned out, is very close to the place where we started our rally. We'll rest there and make some calls to Poland. We returned to the hotel and spent some time resting. In the evening we decided to go again along the promenade and find a nice place for dinner;)
The next days passed on the implementation of the plan from which we came to Barcelona. Visiting cities on skates and realizing the goal of reaching an entry in my novel: "actively, pleasantly and usefully". Due to the fact that visits and travels take place in a traditional way, in the place where I took photos, The icing on the cake was the famous Friday Night Skate Barcelona or Nightskating taking place every week on Friday.
To sum up my first rollerblading week in Barcelona ... I fell in love !!! As a tourist and as a skater, I rate the city 5 stars. I used to roller skate in many cities and I definitely think it is the best roller-skating town in Europe. The adventure we will experience when coming here is permanently saved in memory. Not only that, we would like to come back here :) The city that offers skating opportunities for people of all levels, sunny days and friendly people make Barcelona a paradise for roller skaters. I confirm !!! If you like active rest, discovering new places, aren’t afraid of new challenges, like meeting new people, you will like this kind of tourism;)))
During our entire trip, it would seem that we did a lot, and it is still a small percentage of what you can do in Barcelona on skates. This trip also gave us the confirmation of an idea that was born in our heads some time ago. Coming to Barcelona we wanted to verify our idea. We decided to create a new trend and set a new direction in roller tourism, which will lead to Barcelona. A place that will be prepared for roller-tourism, combined with an intensive course of learning and improving roller-skating. Rolltravel is an innovative idea, a new trail and a great adventure with the wind in your hair. We are convinced that the direction of Rolltravel will allow you to experience these All and many more curiosities that Barcelona offers.
